Artist in Residence: Justen LeRoy | Prelude Opening Performance

Multidisciplinary artist and curator Justen Leroy (leroysoundsystem) creates sonic and performance work that investigates the traditions of Black sound related to spirituality and geology. His most recent work, Lay Me Down In Praise, includes multi-channel visual and sound installations that survey climate change and environmental racism.
Justen will be previewing music from his opera in development and in partnership with LAND, X’ene’s Witness, in a performance titled Prelude. The score is a sonic response to our current climate crisis and expresses the anxieties Black communities feel in parallel to our Earth in this moment. In addition, collaborators of X’ene’s Witness, X’ene Sky and Alexander Hadyn, will be joining to present sound works.
For the presentation on Nov 14th there will be a Prelude performance Upstairs.
