Rethinkable presents: “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You” by Mia Boe
Exhibition: Nov 2023 to Jan 2024
Mia Boe is a Melbourne-based painter from Brisbane with Butchulla and Burmese ancestry. Her work is influenced by the inheritance and ‘disinheritance’ of these two cultures, often responding to the British Empire’s deliberate and violent interferences with the cultural heritages of Burma/Myanmar and K’gari (Fraser Island).
During her Artist in Residence stay in October, Mia will create a series of ink paintings on silk capturing the abstract feeling of missing someone (open to interpretation). This exhibition is a part of our year-long partnership with Nina Fitzgerald and Rethinkable.

Ace Hotel’s Artist in Residence program is the embodiment of our deep conviction that artists deliver us a critical lens through which to understand the world and ourselves. On a quarterly basis, and curated in partnership with creative collectives and art institutions that inspire us, we invite artists across the globe to turn one of our hotel rooms into their studio for a month. Given time and space to create, the artist’s resultant body of work is then exhibited or showcased at Ace and shared with the public.
