Craft & Culture Program “SLOW SERIES” – KYOTO CRAFT FLOW SCRAP MATERIAL WORKSHOP

As part of the craft and culture program SLOW SERIES, we will host the “KYOTO CRAFT FLOW SCRAP MATERIAL WORKSHOP.”
This workshop is held in collaboration with KYOTO CRAFT FLOW at the Annex of the Museum of Kyoto on the same day. Participants will upcycle discarded materials—such as wood shavings and iron scraps—generated in the process of artworks exhibited at KYOTO CRAFT FLOW.
By focusing on “process” and “experience” that cannot be fully conveyed in an exhibition space, this workshop offers visitors the opportunity to engage hands-on with the concept of circular economy championed by KYOTO CRAFT FLOW, and to experience sustainable making firsthand.
At the KYOTO CRAFT FLOW exhibition, around 20 artists present their works under the theme of “FLOW”—a space where makers and users, objects and people, meet and connect. Visitors can directly interact with the artists while appreciating works infused with refined aesthetics, techniques, and unique sensibilities. The venue, the historic Annex of the Museum of Kyoto, designed in 1906 by Kingo Tatsuno—also known for the Marunouchi Station Building of Tokyo Station—adds to the event’s cultural significance.

BRANCHINCENSE
Instructor: Airi Okada
After studying olfactory art and perfumery, she began creating incense. Through workshops and performances, she explores the theme of scent—derived from fieldwork, people, and nature. She launched the brand BRANCH INCENSE, producing incense from natural materials, herbs, and resins collected from around the world.
WUY
“Do what you want, when you want, as much as you want.”
WUY proposes a lifestyle rooted in nature’s rhythm, producing eco-friendly products made from safe and sustainable materials. They also run Re: Dye, a project that gives new life to clothing through natural dyeing techniques.
Hinode Studio
Using the method of Greenwood Working—a traditional craft of carving functional items with axes and knives rather than power tools—Hinode Studio creates spoons and everyday utensils, maximizing the use of the maker’s own body and hand tools.
2025年9月23日（火・祝）にクラフト＆カルチャープログラム『SLOW SERIES（スロウ シリーズ）』の一環として、 「KYOTO CRAFT FLOW SCRAP
MATERIAL WORKSHOP」を開催いたします。本ワークショップは、同日に京都文化博物館 別館で開催される「KYOTO CRAFT FLOW」と連携しており、「KYOTO CRAFT FLOW」に参画される作家さんの作品制作の際に出る廃棄素材（木くずや鉄くずなど）を使用しアップサイクルを行うワークショップです。展示空間では表現しきれない、ものづくりの「プロセス」や「体験」に焦点を当て、「KYOTO CRAFT FLOW」が掲げる「サーキュラーエコノミー（循環経済）」の理念を、来場者が自ら手を動かすことで体感できる、サステナブルなものづくりの機会を提供いたします。
京都文化博物館別館での「KYOTO CRAFT FLOW」は、作り手と使い手、作品と人が交わり動き出す「FLOW（流れ）」をテーマに、約20組の出展作家が作品の世界観を表現するブースを展開します。来場者は作家本人と言葉を交わしながら、研ぎ澄まされた美意識や技術、そして“精神性”が宿る作品をじっくりとご覧いただけます。会場となる京都文化博物館別館は、東京駅丸の内駅舎などを手掛けた辰野金吾らによって1906年に建てられ、100年以上京都に残る歴史的建造物であり、その空間もまたイベントの大きな魅力の一つです。

嗅覚芸術、調香を学んだのち、お香の創作を開始。 フィール
ドワークから作るお香、人や土地、自然をテーマにした嗅覚
のあそび等のワークショップやライブパフォーマンスにあわせ
た香りの演出を行う。 採集した自然物と世界の薬草や樹脂
等で創るお香のブランドBRANCH INCENSEを始動。
WUY
「やりたいことを、やりたい時に、やりたいだけ」そんな事が
あっさり成せる暮らしのご提案。WUY は自然の摂理にそって
環境に優しい安全な素材を使用したオリジナルのプロダクト
生産や草木 染めによる衣類の染め直し〝 Re: 染め〟を行っ
ています。
日の出製作所
電動工具を使わずに、斧やナイフなどの手道具と自分の身
体を最大限に活用して作る「グリーンウッドワーク」という技法
でスプーンや器などの生活道具を作っています。
